He Was Hours Away From Saying ‘I Do’ — Then Everything Changed

Kapri DeRamus was on his way to one of the happiest days of his life when a sudden crash changed everything.

On September 5, 2026, Kapri was traveling to his wedding ceremony in Altamonte Springs, Florida, when he was involved in a serious head-on collision. The crash left him with devastating injuries, including two broken arms, a broken jaw, a broken rib, and a serious knee injury.

Meanwhile, his fiancée, Tyasia Thomas, was preparing for their wedding. Then, just about an hour before they were supposed to say “I do,” she received the heartbreaking news.

Instead of walking into a wedding venue, Tyasia and her family rushed to Orlando Regional Medical Center to be beside Kapri.

Kapri underwent three surgeries as doctors worked to treat his injuries. But even after the accident turned their plans upside down, one thing remained unchanged: they still wanted to become husband and wife.

Once Kapri was stabilized, their families gathered at the hospital. His grandfather officiated the ceremony in a multipurpose room while Kapri remained in his hospital bed.

Tyasia walked down a small makeshift aisle, and the couple exchanged their vows surrounded by the people who loved them most.

It wasn’t the wedding they had imagined. There was no traditional venue or celebration as planned. Instead, there was a hospital room, a hospital bed, and a family standing together during an incredibly difficult moment.

Kapri was released from the hospital on September 9 to continue his recovery at home.

Their wedding day changed completely—but their decision to choose each other did not.
